JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Financial Analyst is a key member of the finance team, responsible for providing advanced financial analysis and insights to support decision-making across the organization. This position leads service line meetings with revenue cycle and supply chain teams, prepares productivity and volume reports, and conducts in-depth profit and loss analysis for surgical cases. The analyst collaborates closely with the CFO, Controller, and department managers to align financial performance with organizational goals, generate board-level financial presentations, and drive data-informed strategies. With a strong emphasis on revenue trends, supply cost analysis, and productivity reporting, this role requires exceptional communication skills, advanced proficiency in Excel, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset to deliver actionable recommendations and foster accountability throughout the hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration (with a focus on finance), or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis, decision support, and productivity reporting within a healthcare environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, VLOOKUPs, HLOOKUPs, nested IF statements, PivotTables, PivotCharts, data visualization, and automation using macros.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, with a proactive, go-getter attitude and a curiosity-driven mindset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with the CFO team, department managers, and senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to lead meetings, present financial data effectively, and influence decision-making.
  • Preferred experience with hospital surgery data analysis, profit and loss analysis, and identifying trends in revenue and supply costs.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong time management skills to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Collaborate closely with the Controller during month-end reporting to generate financial statements and ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data.
  • Review monthly closing entries prepared by accountants and assistants for accuracy by established departmental closing deadlines
  • Assist in preparing financial slides for monthly Board meetings by analyzing and summarizing key financial drivers, and prepare reports that identify variances between actual results, budgeted targets, and prior year performance.
  • Generate revenue data necessary for journal entries during the month-end close process, while collaborating with the accounting team to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards
  • Lead service line meetings with the revenue cycle and supply chain teams by reviewing financial data, creating detailed financial slides, and providing insights to support strategy and drive improvement in surgical service lines
  • Prepare payroll-based staffing productivity reports and collaborate with managers and senior leaders through monthly variance meetings to ensure alignment with staffing productivity budgets and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and weekly volume reports, providing high-level insights on key drivers and trends to support decision-making.
  • Analyze hospital surgery data, including profit and loss, case types, revenue trends, and supply cost trends, to provide actionable recommendations to the CFO and leadership team
  • Collect financial data (both manually and automated) from several databases and systems
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
